SPEED BREAKER GENERATING ELECTRICITY.

The speed breaker generating electricity is generated by replacing the traditional speed breakers with some simple mechanisms. As vehicles pass over the speed breakers, they spin the rollers which are connected to a generator which in turn generates electricity. This method is an effective way to produce electricity as the number of vehicles on the road are ever-increasing. Also, the cost of fabrication of the model is low.

It can be effectively placed near traffic lights, at the entrance of parking lots and any other place where the traffic density is high. Rollers are fixed on a wooden ramp on which vehicle passes. As a vehicle passes over it, it starts moving. A chain drive mechanism is provided which transfers the motion to a DC motor/generator for electricity generation. This method provides an efficient way to generate electricity from the kinetic energy of moving vehicles on roads, highways, parking lots, etc.

OBJECTIVE;-
The generation of electricity using a speed breaker is one of the easiest ways as nowadays everyone is having a vehicle. It can be widely accepted at an individual level because of its low production cost also it doesn’t need any extra effort. Also, the piezoelectric crystal which will convert the mechanical pressure in electric output will enhance the system output.

USE OF SPEED BRAKER

Speed bumps (or traffic thresholds or speed breakers) are the common name for a family of traffic calming devices that use vertical deflection to slow motor-vehicle traffic in order to improve safety conditions.

HOW DO SPEED BREAKER GENERATE ELECTRICITY

There is a system to generate power by converting the potential energy generated by a vehicle going up on a speed breaker into kinetic energy. When the vehicle moves over the inclined plates, it gains height resulting in an increase in potential energy, which is wasted in a conventional rumble strip.

SCOPE;- The energy generated using a speed breaker mechanism can be used to store in batteries and can be used apart for various purposes. The work basically aims to produce free electricity with no fuel cost, no pollution and with a minimum requirement of space.

PRINCIPLE OF SPEED BREAKER GENERATING WORKING SYSTEM

The principle of the electric power generation using speed breaker mechanism is very simple. It is based on the same principle as in the case of electricity generation in the case of a hydroelectric power plant, thermal electric power plant, nuclear power plant, geothermal energy, wind energy, tidal energy, etc.

In all of the above power plant mechanical energy is converted into electrical energy. In this setup also mechanical energy is converted into electrical power using a D.C. generator. Here the vertical motion of the top of the speed breaker is converted into the rotational motion, which in turn rotates the generator and generates electricity.

APPLICATIONS;-
The generated power is stored in the battery; one can use this charge for various purposes. Mainly the generated power is used in two aspects.

Street Lights;-
A Street light, lamppost, street lamp, light standard, or lamp standard is a raised source of light on the edge of a road or walkway, which is turned on or lit at a certain time every night. Modern lamps may also have light-sensitive photocells to turn them on at dusk, off at dawn, or activate automatically in dark weather.

Traffic Lights;-
Traffic lights, which may also be known as stoplights, traffic lamps, traffic signals, signal lights, robots or semaphore, are signaling devices positioned at road intersections, pedestrian crossings, and other locations to control competing flows of traffic.
