FOLDABLE CYCLE.

A foldable cycle that is designed to fold the bicycle into a compact form for facilitates easy transport and easy parking. When folded, the bicycle can be more easily carried wherever we are necessary. Folding mechanisms may vary, with each offering a distinct combination of folding speed and folding ease, compactness of frame, ride, weight, durability, and price that changes with change in the material specification. The choice of model, apart from cost considerations, is a matter of resolving the various practical requirements: a quick easy fold, compact folded size, or a faster but less compact model. While folding bicycles are generally smaller in overall size than that of conventional bicycles. The distances between centers of bottom bracket, the top of the saddle, the handlebars, are the primary factors in determining whether a bicycle fits its rider or not, is generally similar to that of conventional cycles. The wheelbase of many folding designs is also very similar to non-folding bicycles. 

FOLDABLE CYCLE

A folding bicycle is a bicycle designed to fold into a compact form, facilitating transport and storage. When folded, the bikes can be more easily carried into buildings, on public transportation (facilitating mixed-mode commuting and bicycle commuting), and more easily stored in compact living quarters or aboard a car, boat or plane.

WHY SHOULD WE USE FOLDABLE CYCLE?

The bicycle is one of the most convenient ways of transportation or traveling from one place to another. There are different ways of

traveling such as bike, train, bus, but this all is costly as the camper to bicycles. The cost of a bicycle is nearly 10-12 times lesser than a bike. No doubt that bike required less energy than the bicycle but the bicycle helps to make our self-fit & fine. 

NEED FOR THE FOLDABLE CYCLE

We all are aware of the cost of fuels and at what speed it is increasing in such a condition it is not possible for everyone to use the services which run on fuels. In such a condition, the folding bicycle plays a very important role it not only saves the fuels but also helps to keep yourself-healthy and it does not affect the work which we will complete by making the use of other traveling services such as the bike.

                                                             FOLDING METHOD

Half- or mid-fold

Many folding frames follow the classic frame pattern of the safety bicycle’s diamond frame but feature a hinge point (with single or double hinges) allowing the bicycle to fold approximately in half. Quick-release clamps enable raising or lowering steering and seat columns.

Vertical Fold

Instead of folding horizontally, this style of bike has one or two hinges along the main tube and/or chain and seat stays that allow the bike to fold vertically. The result leaves the two wheels side by side but is often more compact than a horizontally hinged design. 

Triangle hinge

A hinge in the frame may allow the rear triangle and wheel to be folded down and flipped forward, under the mainframe tube, as in the Bike Friday, Brompton Mezzo Folder, and Swift Folder. Such a flip hinge may be combined with a folding front fork, as in the Birdy. Swing and flip hinges may be combined on the same frame, as in the Brompton Mezzo Folder and Dahon, which use a folding steering column. Folding mechanisms typically involve latches and quick releases, which affect the speed of the fold/unfold.

                                                               ADVANTAGES 

1. Saves space

The most obvious advantage these bikes have over regular ones is that they occupy a considerably less amount of space. 

2. Easy to travel with

Whether you are using public transport or your personal car to travel, you can carry your foldable bicycle without any restrictions.

3. Intermodal travel

If traveling to work requires you to use public transport to cover a certain distance and the rest needs to be traveled using a bike, then the foldable bicycle is exactly what you need.

4. Fewer chances of getting stolen

Since you can fold up your bike and take it indoors, you do not have to lock your bike outside and constantly worry about it getting stolen. Of course, while some bikes are more compact than others, most of them are small enough for you to carry.

                                                              DISADVANTAGES 

1. Road bumps

Owing to their compact size and foldability, these bikes have much smaller tires than a conventional bicycle. 

2. Slow pace

The size of the tires combined with long distances would inevitably tire the rider. For short commutes, you may gain considerable speed but long distances are hard to cover in a short time.

CONCLUSION

One of the best uses of the folding bicycle is that we can take the bicycle on the train and bus because it requires less space.
