BICYCLE OPERATED HACKSAW.
A bicycle operated hacksaw is a fine-toothed saw, originally and mainly made for cutting metal. Most hacksaw is hand saws with a C-shaped frame that holds a blade under tension. The equivalent saw for cutting wood is usually called bow saw. Such hacksaws have a handle, usually a pistol grip, with pins for attaching a narrow disposable blade. The frames may also be adjustable to accommodate blades of different sizes. A screw or other mechanism is used to put the thin blade under tension.
On hacksaws, as with most frame saws, the blade can be mounted with the teeth facing toward or away from the handle, resulting in cutting action on either the push or pull stroke. In normal use, cutting vertically downwards with work held in a bench vice, hacksaw blades are set to be facing forwards.
PEDAL OPERATED HACKSAW
Operating a hacksaw manually is a very tiring and time-consuming task. It requires a lot of manual effort and delivers uneven cutting. Operating an electrical hacksaw does deliver good results but consumes a lot of energy. So here we propose a semi-automated hacksaw using pedal power. Here we design and fabricate a hacksaw that is run by pedal power and achieves even cutting with very fewer efforts. Here we use a chain sprocket arrangement to transfer power from pedals to a hacksaw.
A strong and firm base frame allows for efficient power transfer between the system. We use bearings and mounts to mount and set up the entire system and ensure a smooth circular motion of pedals. Now we attach a hub to the other sprocket. This hub is connected with a connecting rod which moves with the hub in order to produce a lateral motion. We now develop a supporting frame and connect a saw to the other end in order to achieve the desired cutting movement of the saw. We also attach some weight to the upper saw frame in order to have some load on the hacksaw for a cut through movement system.

Proper blade selection is important for the proper cutting and selection of blades. Three teeth must be
in contact with the work. Large sections and soft materials require a coarse-tooth blade. Small or thin work and
hard materials require a fine-tooth blade.
A bicycle pedal is the part of a bicycle that the rider pushes with their foot to propel the bicycle. It
provides the connection between the cyclist’s foot or shoe and the crank allowing the leg to turn the bottom
bracket spindle and propel the bicycle’s wheels. Pedals were initially attached to cranks connecting directly to
the driven (usually front) wheel.
Stand Setup Parts;-
Stands are introduced to immobilize the apparatus. Various components used are fixed to this
arrangement. The chassis of the bicycle is used as the stand setup parts. The stand described here is designed to
support most bicycles. The stand assembly is divided into two parts: the rectangular base frame and two
triangular upright supports.
Crank and Slider Mechanism;-
A slider-crank mechanism is used to convert the rotary motion of the crank into the reciprocating
motion of hacksaw. The lengths of the crank and connecting rods are made using the trial and error method. The

The Pedal Operated Hacksaw Machine consists of the pedal arrangement which rotates the crank and
through it, slider consists of an oscillating mechanism. The power is transmitted to the crank and slider
mechanism. This mechanism is used to rotate the crank disc; the disc which is having an extended rod is
connected to the sliding portion of the hacksaw directly by means of a linkage. The hacksaw is passed through
the guideways by means of maintaining the cutting axis. As the user operated the pedal.
