In the project, an Arduino is using as a controlling unit. A TSOP 1838T sensor is using for receiving a signal from the remote. The output pin of sensor is connected to the Arduino, when any button of the remote is pressed, IR LED of remote sends a unique encoded signal, this signal is received by the sensor and sent to the Arduino, The Arduino decode the signal and turn on and off the lights according to the signal. 12-volt relays are used for switching the appliances.

This Project “Home Automation Using Remote Control System” provided wireless control and automation for homes and offices. These are very essential in the present lifestyle. This Paper described a design of an effective remote controlling system that can monitor the house. This paper gives the best solution for electrical power wastage. Also, the manual operation is eliminated. The home appliances can be switched on/off using IR without actually going near the switchboards or regulators. The loads like lights, motors, heaters, power controlling system and also current through the loads can be controlled in this paper. We controlled all loads at a time from one place (control room) without connecting any physical wire between loads and the control room.
