Image Steganography is the method of hiding secret data in any image/audio/video. In a nutshell, the main motive of steganography is to hide the intended information within any image/audio/video that doesn’t appear to be secret just by looking at it. The idea behind image-based Steganography is very simple. Images are composed of digital data (pixels), which describes what’s inside the picture, usually the colors of all the pixels. Since we know every image is made up of pixels and every pixel contains 3-values (red, green, blue).
My Engineering project gives you the project which aim is the practice of hiding private or sensitive information within something that appears to be nothing out to the usual. Steganography is often confused with cryptology because the two are similar in the way that they both are used to protect important information.
Cryptography and steganography are both methods used to hide or protect secret data. However, they differ in the respect that cryptography makes the data unreadable, or hides the meaning of the data, while steganography hides the existence of the data.
In this project user needs to run the project. The user has two tab options – encrypt and decrypt. If the user select encrypt, the application gives the screen to select the image file, information file and option to save the image file. If the user select decrypt, the application gives the screen to select only the image file and ask the path where the user wants to save the secrete file. This project has two methods – Encrypt and Decrypt. In encryption, the secrete information is hiding in with any type of image file. Decryption is getting the secrete information from the image file.
The idea behind image-based Steganography is very simple. Images are composed of digital data (pixels), which describes what’s inside the picture, usually the colors of all the pixels. Since we know every image is made up of pixels and every pixel contains 3-values (red, green, blue). Every byte of data is converted to its 8-bit binary code using ASCII values. Now pixels are read from left to right in a group of 3 containing a total of 9 values. The first 8-values are used to store binary data. The value is made odd if 1 occurs and even if 0 occurs.
This project is developed for hiding information in any image file. The scope of the project is the implementation of steganography tools for hiding information includes any type of information file and image files and the path where the user wants to save Image and extruded file.
It is observed that through LSB Substitution Steganographic method, the results obtained in data hiding are pretty impressive as it utilizes the simple fact that any image could be broken up to individual bit-planes each consisting of different levels of information. But this process can also be extended to be used for color images where, bit-plane slicing is to be done individually for the top four bit-planes for each of R, G, B of the message image, which is again to be placed in the R, G, B planes of the cover image, and extraction is done similarly.
